Jake Paul Says Francis Ngannou Is 'Scared' to Fight Him, Calls MMA Star 'Light Work'

After his fight with Gervonta "Tank" Davis was canceled, Jake Paul has turned to a bigger target as his next potential opponent.

Paul took to social media to call out former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL star Francis Ngannou for a boxing match, declaring that the 39-year-old is "scared" to step in the ring against him and would be "light work" if they were to meet.

Ngannou responded with a tweet calling out Paul's lackluster fight against Mike Tyson last November, and telling the 28-year-old to "stay in your lane."

Paul was set to face Davis in an exhibition bout on Nov. 14, but the fight fell through. Many criticized the matchup as another spectacle for Paul, as he typically fights at 200 pounds, while Davis is the WBA champion at 135 pounds.

Ngannou, who has competed in losing efforts against heavyweight boxers Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, revealed that he was approached to replace Davis and bashed Paul for his strategy in picking his opponents. He typically fights at over 250 pounds, outweighing Paul and far exceeding Davis.

"How can they go from Gervonta Davis to Francis Ngannou? Davis is a fantastic boxer and a one-shot knockout artist. But come on, the weight difference makes no sense. For me, it makes no sense," Ngannou told TMZ.

"They reached out the other day and told me [they need] a replacement for Gervonta," he continued. "I said, 'What can I do for you?' They said, 'We are looking for a replacement.' But I still didn't get it! I was like, 'Ok, what exactly can I do for you?' They said, 'We are thinking about you fighting Jake'. I said, 'Jake?' I was so confused. I wasn't expecting it at all. They said, 'Jake Paul, he's fighting…' I said, 'No, bro, come on. Don't disrespect me like that.' It's not about the number. I am not interested. It makes no sense."

It seems Paul is still hoping that Ngannou agrees to a big-money fight, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the YouTuber continues trading barbs with the veteran knockout artist.
