It's no surprise that the Dodgers sit atop the World Series odds list, especially with the game's greatest player, two-way star Shohei Ohtani, back in the mix. However, L.A. also returns plenty of other talents under contract, including starting pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell, first baseman Freddie Freeman, catcher Will Smith and shortstop Mookie Betts, among others.

Ultimately, the Dodgers should be in position to contend for quite some time, and they appear to be the best team on paper yet again. A World Series title in 2026 would mark the first time an MLB team has won three straight Fall Classics since the New York Yankees from 1998-2000.

Speaking of the Yankees, they are second overall and the top American League representative. They made the World Series in 2024 only to fall in five games to the Dodgers. This year's team won 94 games (the same as 2025), but the American League-winning Blue Jays defeated them soundly in the AL Division Series, three games to one.

There's reason to believe the Yankees could finally break through, led by potential American League MVP Aaron Judge, who led the major leagues with a .331 batting average and 1.144 OPS. Notably, the Yankees also return staff ace Gerrit Cole, who missed the entire season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

New York does have some major question marks, though, specifically in the outfield with both Trent Grisham and Cody Bellinger free agents.

Elsewhere on the odds list, the near-World Series champion Blue Jays are a bit further down the ledger than expected given that they nearly won it all. However, Toronto could lose star shortstop Bo Bichette, an impending free agent. Still, Toronto returns a host of talent that nearly took the team all the way, led by superstar first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

The odds will assuredly change as the offseason progresses and teams add (or subtract) talent. In the meantime, Opening Night 2026 is 143 days away, and it will feature the New York Yankees visiting the San Francisco Giants.
