The other Will Smith is the left-handed relief pitcher, who won World Series with three different teams in 2021 (Atlanta Braves), 2022 (Houston Astros) and 2023 (Texas Rangers). The 36-year-old Smith is currently a free agent who last pitched for the Kansas City Royals in 2024.
Outside his home run, the Dodgers catcher was center stage for a huge moments in Games 6 and 7.
In the third inning of Game 6, Smith hit a two-out RBI double to tie the game at one. Two batters later, Mookie Betts delivered a two-run single (scoring Shohei Ohtani and Smith) for a 3-1 edge. That score would hold for the remainder of the game.
In the fourth inning of Game 7, Smith hit a leadoff double and eventually scored after a Teoscar Hernández sac fly to cut the Blue Jay lead to 3-1.
Later in the ninth inning, Smith just kept his toe on home plate long enough to get a needed forceout from second baseman Miguel Rojas with the score tied at four and Blue Jays utility fielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa sprinting home for the potential World Series-winning run.
Two inning later, Smith delivered the game-winning home run to help propel the Dodgers to the franchise's ninth World Series title.
