NFL Trade Deadline 2025 Date, End Time, Hottest Rumors, Predictions and More

Erik BeastonNov 2, 2025

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m. EST and between now and then, teams in need of one or two pieces to catapult themselves into Super Bowl contention will be working the phones, contacting teams well out of the playoff hunt for players that may be available to do just that.

The Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Cincinnati Bengals are all teams to keep an eye on as they decide the future of their organizations amid disappointing campaigns thus far in 2025.

Who are the players who might be available and what are the latest rumors on them?

Find out with this preview of the upcoming deadline.

Jets Not Trading Breece Hall?

Running back Breece Hall looked like one of the surest things when it came to players being traded at the deadline but Dan Graziano of ESPN reported that may not be the case.

"Well, it sounds like the Jets will hold on to Breece Hall unless the return is good enough to justify a move (maybe a third-round pick)."

Hall has had a down season for a Jets team that is the worst in the NFL but coming off of its first win a week ago against Cincinnati. He has 117 carries for 581 yards and two touchdowns. He has added 21 receptions for 178 yards.

His five yards per carry are appealing to other teams, but they will not move him for peanuts, even though he is an unrestricted free agent after this season, per Spotrac, and can walk away, giving the Jets nothing in return.

Perhaps the contractual situation eventually makes the Jets more willing to move Hall by the time Tuesday arrives. That, or a team in need of help at the running back position comes through with the desired draft capital.

Prediction: Hall is moved at, or ahead of, the deadline

Update on Falcons and Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins is the most coveted quarterback ahead of the trade deadline but teams in need at the position should not count on the former Pro Bowler being available.

"But I've been told Cousins' status hasn't changed. The Falcons still value him highly as a backup option (he has already had to start one game this season due to a Penix knee injury) and are asking more in return than teams have been willing to pay -- especially because an acquiring team would have to take on about half of Cousins' $27.5 million salary in 2025 and the $10 million guarantee he has for 2026."

In two appearances this season, Cousins has completed 68.4 percent of his passes for 202 yards and a passer rating of 81.3.

At the height of his career, the Michigan State product achieved 4,000 or more yards from 2015 through 2022 and would have extended it another year had he not suffered a devastating torn Achilles in 2023.

His first season in Atlanta was not a success as he threw for just 18 touchdowns to 16 interceptions and was benched by the end of it in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr.

There is no reason to believe Cousins does not have the tools to step into a quarterback-needy situation and be a significant contributor. It is unlikely, however, that any team is going to want to pay the price it would cost to get him there, financially and in draft stock, for someone who has not had a truly great season in three years.

Add to that Penix has not exactly lit the world on fire with his play and there still exists an opportunity for Cousins to start for the Falcons and showcase his abilities.

Prediction: Cousins stays put in Atlanta

Dolphins Not Parting with Jaylen Waddle

Miami is in the midst of its worst season in years and just parted ways with general manager Chris Grier, but that does not mean the team is headed for a fire sale at the deadline.

One of its most intriguing assets is wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and, despite certain interest in the fifth-year player, the team is not willing to part with him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that, in the words of one source, it is "highly unlikely" that the team trades Waddle.

Waddle has 41 receptions for 586 yards and four touchdowns in 2025.

The Alabama product has elite speed and is a down-the-field threat who could benefit teams that need a game-changer at the position, like the New England Patriots, but if the Dolphins are being stingy about trading him as it is, they surely are not going to deal him within the division.

Miami's stance on Waddle has not changed from the beginning. No matter how poorly the rest of the season goes, it is unlikely to at this point, even if it would be intriguing to see him ball out with a more consistent quarterback under center than Tua Tagovailoa.

Prediction: Waddle stays in Miami

What Will the Bengals Do?

4 of 4
Jets Bengals Football

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the most interesting teams to watch ahead of the deadline in that they are still alive in an under-performing AFC North and hope to get all-world quarterback Joe Burrow back for the back end of the season, making it unlikely that they trade any major stars ahead of the deadline.

Schefter posted on X, though, that Sunday's game against Chicago could determine exactly what the team opts to do.

"Bengals have told teams they don't intend to trade Trey Hendrickson. But if the Bengals lose today to the Bears and drop to 3-6, there are some sources who have wondered if that might be enough to change Cincinnati's stance," he wrote.

Hendrickson signed a one-year, restructured deal with the Bengals this off-season, including a raise of $14 million. In seven games, he has 11 total tackles and four sacks for a Bengals team that is still inexplicably in the hunt for a division title.

The former New Orleans Saint is one of the best pass rushers in the game, accumulating 57 sacks since joining Cincinnati as a free agent in 2021.

One area of need even the best teams in the league are looking for ahead of the deadline is pass rusher and Hendrickson would fetch a haul for the Bengals. Executing that trade, though, would serve as a punt on the season for Cincinnati, a position that they may be in if they cannot muster a win against a similarly positioned Chicago Bears team.

Prediction: Hendrickson is available
