Eagles' Depth Chart, Salary Cap, NFL Draft Picks After Jaire Alexander Trade
The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday that they acquired veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-rounder from the Baltimore Ravens for a 2026 sixth-round selection, the second defensive back they've landed this week after acquiring slot corner Michael Carter on Wednesday.
Edge-rusher Azeez Ojulari and safety Marcus Epps were placed on injured reserve in corresponding moves.

What exactly the Eagles are getting in Alexander remains to be seen. The 28-year-old was a Pro Bowler in both 2020 and 2022 for the Green Bay Packers, with double-digit pass breakups in four of his first five seasons and 10 interceptions in that time. But injuries limited him to just 14 total games between the 2023-24 seasons, and the Packers cut him in June.
He signed with the Ravens later that month on a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, with $2 million in incentives, and was expected to slide into a talented secondary that already included cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins and safeties Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks.
But despite the Ravens being injury-depleted on defense for much of the year, Alexander's made a nominal impact, with as many healthy scratches this season (five) as tackles.
As for the Eagles, finding an opposite corner for Quinyon Mitchell has prove to be difficult after Darius Slay's departure in free agency. Neither Adoree' Jackson or Kelee Ringo did well in the role, to the point that in recent weeks star slot corner Cooper DeJean has started taking reps at outside corner in base packages.
One thought after the Eagles acquired Carter was that DeJean might move to the outside spot full time, with Carter best suited in the slot. But adding Alexander gives them more flexibility, though whether he can contribute at a high enough level to justify getting playing time remains to be seen.
Both Green Bay and Baltimore, in the span of about four months, decided he couldn't do so. Philly paid a pretty small price to see if yet another change of scenery might do the trick.
