Kayvon Thibodeaux Reportedly Was Given 1st-Round Price Tag by Giants in Trade Talks
The New York Giants reportedly placed a high price tag on pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux when teams recently inquired about his availability prior to Tuesday's NFL trade deadline.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Giants asked for a first-round pick in exchange for Thibodeaux, and they currently do not plan on trading him.
The 24-year-old Thibodeaux is in the midst of his fourth NFL season after going fifth overall to the G-Men in the 2022 NFL draft.

During his second NFL season in 2023, Thibodeaux broke out with 11.5 sacks, and he seemed poised to become one of the top pass-rushers in the league.
However, his sack total dipped to 5.5 last season, and he missed five games with a wrist injury.
The Giants then used the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft on Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter, leaving Thibodeaux's role and future with the organization in flux.
While Thibodeaux has started all eight games for the Giants this season, he has just 2.5 sacks.
Brian Burns is having an All-Pro-type season with a league-leading 10 sacks, while Carter has struggled to adjust to life in the NFL with only a half-sack over his first eight games.
Carter does have as many tackles as Thibodeaux with 21, however, and he has played 70.9 percent of the team's defensive snaps compared to 72.7 percent from Thibodeaux and 75.8 percent for Burns.
Head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Shane Bowen have found a way to utilize all three of their pass-rushers consistently, but it is fair to wonder if that is something they want to continue doing over the long term.
It seems the game plan has left the Giants susceptible to the run, as they rank 30th in the NFL with 148.9 rushing yards allowed per game.
Thibodeaux is signed through next season after the Giants picked up the fifth-year option in his rookie contract, so having an extra year of team control could be attractive to any team that potentially attempts to trade for him.
It is difficult to envision a team giving up a first-round pick for Thibodeaux, though, given his production over the past two years and the fact that he is under contract for only one more year.
Because of that, the 2-6 Giants may be best off rolling out their big three pass-rushers for the remainder of the season to give themselves an idea of how to move forward with them beyond 2025.
