Myles Garrett Reportedly Targeted in Trade Calls by NFL Teams, Browns Won't Deal Star
Myles Garrett committed to the Cleveland Browns this offseason when he signed a four-year extension after previously requesting a trade. Despite his commitment, teams reportedly are interested in trading for him ahead of the deadline.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, "teams have checked in" on Garrett, but the Browns don't plan to trade him. One source told Russini that Garrett is "a Brown and will remain a Brown."
The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly are one of the teams interested in adding Garrett at the deadline, and they'd apparently be willing to give up a lofty haul, Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reported this week.
"Rumor going around … and I have not heard it out of the Eagles, but I've heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones," Robinson reported during a radio appearance on ESPN Nashville's 102.5 The Game (h/t Bleeding Green Nation's Brandon Lee Gowton). "That Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett. That Howie would give up, like, three first-round picks for him."
But even an offer as big as that which the Eagles reportedly would offer might not be enough. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier this week that one source said Garrett has "no chance" of being dealt and people would "have a better chance of winning the lottery" than the Browns trading him.
Cleveland is 2-6 on the season and is a prime candidate to sell at the deadline, but Garrett is, understandably, an asset that might be too good to give up. The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year is on pace for the best season of his career, logging 31 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 10 sacks through eight games.
The Browns could trade Garrett and build for the future, but it would mean giving up a generational player.
