Breeders' Cup 2025 Results, Tracking Winners, Prize Money Payouts on Friday

Joseph ZuckerOct 31, 2025

One of the biggest weekends in horse racing kicked off Friday in Del Mar, California, with the 2025 Breeders' Cup World Championships.

Fourteen races make up the two-day spectacle, and the Breeders' Cup Classic is the headliner on Saturday. Even with Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner Sovereignty bowing out, the field still boasts Belmont Stakes winner Journalism and the top three finishers from the 2024 Classic (Sierra Leone, Fierceness and Forever Young).

Friday's five juvenile races provide fans with an opportunity to see the horses who could make a lot of noise when the 2026 Triple Crown season kicks into gear.

Friday Results

Schwarzenegger jumped out to an early lead over Cy Fair only to lose a lot of speed down the final stretch.

Cy Fair passed on the outside as Brussels made a late surge as well. The Aidan P. O'Brien-trained colt had been in last place before working his way up the field and earning a second-place finish.

Super Corredora pulled off the upset in the Juvenile Fillies contest. It was almost a wire-to-wire victory for she and jockey Hector Barrios. They were running second to Explora out of the gate before quickly gaining the lead.

Down the final straightaway, Super Corredora and Explora pulled away from the pack. Juan Hernandez tried to get something extra from Explora, but it wasn't enough to catch Barrios and Super Corredora.

Balantina stunned the Del Mar crowd with an incredible sprint on the inside to pass Ground Support on the inside and cross the finish line in first.

Jockey Oisin Murphy opted to stay in the middle of the pack before making his move around the final turn. Balantina hit the afterburners along the rail, leaving Ground Support and Pacific Mission in her wake.

Ted Noffey lived up to his status as the pre-race favorite for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He and Brant set a quick pace after exiting the gate. Brant spent much of the time in first as John Velazquez waited until the home stretch to let Ted Noffey really run.

Brant gave it everything he had but couldn't fend off Ted Noffey, losing enough speed to slip to third behind Mr. A. P.

Saturday's action is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET with the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. The 2025 Classic has a post time of 6:25 p.m.
