The Authority waited less than 24 hours after Battleground before announcing the apparent main event for SummerSlam on August 23.

After The Undertaker showed up at Raw Monday night, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon spoke backstage and came to the conclusion Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker will headline SummerSlam, per WWE:

This came after 'Taker explained why he interfered in Lesnar's WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Battleground:

Sunday night, the Deadman delivered a chokeslam and two Tombstone Piledrivers to Lesnar, causing the bout between The Beast and Seth Rollins to end in a no-contest.

As if his intentions were not clear enough as is, The Undertaker took the extra step just to eliminate any doubt. Former WWE official Jimmy Korderas was happy to see The Undertaker keep his response brief on Raw:

One of the biggest questions immediately after the pay-per-view was why The Undertaker would wait this long to seek retribution for Lesnar ending his WrestleMania streak. You could probably explain that away by just assuming the Deadman was waiting until he felt confident he could truly give Lesnar a challenge.

Lesnar vs. 'Taker is obviously a huge match, but it's still kind of surprising WWE is pushing its primary championship on the periphery a bit for one of the biggest PPVs of the year—not that the decision is indefensible.

Whatever the company has in store for Rollins, it will play second fiddle to the rematch between two of the biggest Superstars of the past two decades.
