Packers Reveal Leather Helmet Style Guardian Cap for Romeo Doubs in Photo

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs' helmet looks different than most players since he wears a guardian cap, but the equipment staff did their best to make it work with the team's fake leather helmets.

In a new photo, the Packers revealed Doubs' fake leather helmet style guardian cap.

The Packers will wear their throwback uniforms, the "1923 Classic," this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. The jerseys are navy blue but gold numbers and letters, along with gold pants. Obviously, Green Bay couldn't use the original leather helmets it wore 100 years ago, but the fake leather helmets pay homage to the past.

The Packers announced the uniforms over the summer.

The Packers previously paid homage to their 1950s teams with the iconic uniforms they wore from 2021 to 2024.

Now Green Bay will throw it back to the 1923 season, when the Curly Lambeau-led Packers finished 7-2-1.

Doubs suffered his first concussion last November, forcing him to miss two games. Upon return, he started wearing a guardian cap, and he has stuck with the extra protection ever since.

NFL executive vice president Jeff Miller said last year that the use of guardian caps resulted in a 50 percent reduction in concussions when testing in training camp in 2022 and 2023.

Doubs has recorded 350 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season, pulling in three receptions for 44 yards in last week's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
