Jauan Jennings Trade Rumors Downplayed By 49ers' Shanahan, 'Would Be Very Surprised'
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expects wide receiver Jauan Jennings to remain with the team for the remainder of the season, per comments made to reporters at his press conference on Wednesday.
NFL Network's Clayton Holloway relayed those remarks and also noted that Jennings happened to delete his Instagram page as Tuesday's NFL trade deadline nears.

That could very well be much ado about nothing, but Jennings did ask for a trade this offseason, per general manager John Lynch, who told reporters in August that he denied the request.
"He asked for it and we've moved on," Lynch said on Aug. 27, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. "We're not doing that. So, we're moving forward."
ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported in July that Jennings, who is playing out the final season of his contract ($7.5 million in 2025), wanted a new deal or a trade.
Jennings enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, catching 77 passes for 975 yards and six touchdowns. Unfortunately, Jennings has not enjoyed the same success in 2025, catching 18 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown in six contests.
Matt Barrows of The Athletic provided his thoughts on Sunday amid the 49ers' 23-15 road loss at the Houston Texans.
Jennings has played through a host of injuries, which is assuredly hampering his play. In one respect, it's remarkable that he's even out there.
Jennings provided a picture of what he's been dealing with this season during a chat with reporters on Oct. 12 after his team's 30-17 road loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Playing with injuries is just something that's part of it, you know?" Jennings said, per Grant Cohn of 49ers On SI.
"You've got high and low ankle sprains. You've got a shoulder that's 20 percent. You've got ribs—five broken ribs—and it is what it is. You keep playing. And nobody cares. You keep playing. That's what we do."
Needless to say, that's a lot for anyone to deal with, let alone a professional wide receiver.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler recently speculated on Oct. 29 that Jennings could be dealt.
"Much is made of Jakobi Meyers' trade prospects out of Las Vegas, but let's not forget about San Francisco's Jauan Jennings, who also asked for a trade in the offseason over the lack of a new deal. Despite nearly 1,000 yards in 2024, Jennings is off to a slower start this season, ranking fifth on the 49ers in receiving (212). Both sides could use a fresh start."
The 49ers seem emphatic that a trade won't happen. However, we won't know for certain until Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET.
If Jennings remains with the team, we're possibly seeing him play out his final weeks in a 49ers uniform as unrestricted free agency looms.
