Myles Garrett Reportedly Has 'No Chance' to Be Traded by Browns at 2025 NFL Deadline

Adam WellsOct 29, 2025

Despite venting frustration with the state of the Cleveland Browns after a 32-13 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, Myles Garrett isn't a candidate to be moved prior to the Nov. 4 trade deadline.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, one person said there is "no chance" of Garrett being dealt and people would "have a better chance of winning the lottery" than the Browns moving their star pass-rusher.

Garrett became the 20th player in NFL history to record at least five sacks in a game when he accomplished the feat against the Patriots. He's the first player since Derrick Thomas in 1990 to be on the losing end of a game in which he recorded at least five sacks.

There was a moment late in the game when the CBS television cameras showed Garrett on the sideline visibly frustrated and slamming his helmet on the bench.

Garrett spoke about the loss and his sideline outburst after it was over.

All of this came about after Garrett started the offseason requesting a trade from the Browns only to sign a four-year, $160 million extension in March that keeps him under contract through 2030.

Even though the financials of Garrett's deal would seem to make it difficult for him to be moved in-season, ESPN's Dan Graziano did note the particulars wouldn't necessarily make it impossible and it "isn't inconceivable" that could happen just from a money perspective.

According to Graziano, Garrett received an additional $7 million in 2025 compensation and $6 million in 2026 since his previous deal covered those years. His new terms in 2027 feature $30.5 million in guaranteed money.

A trade would result in a $41.1 million dead cap charge in 2026 for the Browns, who are currently around $14 million over next year's projected salary cap.

When Garrett signed his extension, it made him the highest-paid EDGE in the NFL by average annual salary. He has already fallen down to fourth after Micah Parsons, Aidan Hutchinson and T.J. Watt got new deals.

In what is shaping up to be another bad season in Cleveland, Garrett is once again the biggest bright spot for the franchise. He leads the NFL in tackles for loss (15) and sacks (10) through eight games.

The Browns enter their bye in Week 9 with a 2-6 record, tied with the Miami Dolphins for the second-worst mark in the AFC. They have had just two winning seasons since Garrett entered the league in 2017.
