Giants' Malik Nabers Has Knee Surgery 1 Month After Season-Ending Injury

Zach BacharOct 28, 2025

New York Giants star receiver Malik Nabers underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL on Tuesday, according to NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton.

The procedure occurred one month after Nabers suffered the injury in New York's 21-18 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 28.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport previously explained why there was a delay before the surgery.

"As far as why it's taken a month between the injury and surgery, there's something called 'pre-hab,' which is essentially when players strengthen and stretch the area around the knee just to make rehab better when he eventually has surgery," Rapoport said Sunday.

Tuesday's procedure was performed by Dallas Cowboys team physician Dan Cooper, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.

The extended time period between the injury and surgery hasn't appeared to impact Nabers' recovery timeline, as Rapoport reported Tuesday that the wideout "should be ready" for the start of the 2026 season.

The 22-year-old was off to a hot start to his 2025 campaign prior to his early exit against Los Angeles, hauling in 16 receptions for 251 yards and two touchdowns in his first three appearances.

After the Giants selected Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, he blew past expectations as a rookie. He amassed 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns, while his 109 catches represented a new single-season franchise record.

Nabers received Pro Bowl recognition for his efforts and finished No. 5 in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

For the rest of the 2025 season, the Giants will lean on receivers Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton to make up for Nabers' absence.

New York's young talent has dealt with multiple significant injuries this year, as rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle on Sunday and is reportedly expected to miss the remainder of the season.

As for Nabers, he'll now begin the road to recovery after Tuesday's surgery.
