Kameron McGusty to Oklahoma: Sooners Land 4-Star SG Prospect
Head coach Lon Kruger's 2016 recruiting class is no longer without a centerpiece, as 4-star shooting guard Kameron McGusty announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners via Twitter on Monday:
McGusty, a rising senior, chose the Sooners over no fewer than 12 other offers from national powers. The Seven Lakes (Texas) High School star had been considered a near-lock to land at Oklahoma for much of his recruitment, with every expert prediction from 247Sports sending him to Norman.

On McGusty's commitment alone, the Sooners have risen to No. 9 in the 247Sports class rankings for 2016. He is the school's second commit, joining small forward Kristian Doolittle. Oklahoma was among the most aggressive schools in pursuing McGusty, offering him in April.
“They just told me what I needed to do if I wanted to play for the University of Oklahoma,” McGusty said then, per Justin Hite of Scout.com. “I worked on those things. They wanted to get the best out of me, and not just being able to score the ball."
Alex Kline of the Recruit Scoop noted there will be a hole in Oklahoma's lineup for McGusty to fill:
"Kameron McGusty had a huge few months. He has an immediate opportunity to come in & fill the void of Buddy Hield/Isaiah Cousins graduating.

Overall, the 6'5" shooting guard is the No. 34 player in the country and the seventh-best player at his position. A fluid playmaker who works best with the ball in his hands, he should help the Sooners with his aggressiveness on both ends of the floor.
With McGusty in tow, Kruger could add another piece or two and establish Oklahoma as a player on the national recruiting scene.
