Cam Ward Takes Blame, Doesn't Feel Titans Losing Is 'Stunting' His Development

Timothy RappOct 27, 2025

Cam Ward yet again put the onus on himself to play better following Sunday's 38-14 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, which dropped the Tennessee Titans to 1-7 on the season and 0-2 under interim head coach Mike McCoy.

"I have to do more. I have to be more accurate with the football," he told reporters. "We have to consistently move the ball up and down the field and end with points. I think the last couple of weeks we've been better just moving the ball, but we have to end it with points. If we don't score points, we're not going to be in a lot of games."

Ward finished Sunday's game 22-of-38 for 259 yards, a touchdown and an interception, taking four sacks. For the season, he's now thrown 1,615 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions while taking 34 sacks and completing 57.7 percent of his passes.

It hasn't been pretty, though the Titans aren't exactly surrounding him with an excess of talent. Either way, Ward isn't worried about the situation setting back his development.

"I don't think it's stunting [my development] because whether you win or lose, you will get better and you also got to get coached up on certain things every game," he told reporters. "Nobody in the NFL is going to play a perfect game each and every night. So, I just stay just right here at the same time. I never get too high, I never get too low. Try to do the best for my teammates to win."
