Colts' Jonathan Taylor Says Defenses 'Have to Pick Your Poison on Every Single Play'
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor doesn't envy opposing defenses after his team had another strong offensive showing in a 38-14 win over the Tennessee Titans.
"We have so many new weapons," Taylor said to The MMQB's Albert Breer. "From Daniel Jones to Michael Pittman to Josh Downs to Alec Pierce, Tyler Warren. It's so tough to defend us. You kind of have to pick your poison on every single play. Are you gonna defend the pass? Are you gonna run? What are you going to do? When you have great players across the board, like we have, it makes it easy for us to make explosive plays. Now we're just matched up one-on-one.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"It's not too many people deep, where there are people in each zone, or too many people stacked in the box. It's usually just a one-on-one we have to win. It's made it really tough to defend us."
Week 8 encapsulated Taylor's point. The two-time Pro Bowler ran for 153 yards on two touchdowns. Quarterback Daniel Jones, meanwhile, went 21-of-29 for 272 yards and three touchdowns. Pittman, Pierce and Warren all had 50-plus receiving yards.
This goes beyond Indy beating up on a bad opponent. The Colts are averaging more yards (385.3) and points (33.8) than any other team. The performance they put together against the Titans is what they've done to everyone else on their schedule so far.
Maybe the Indianapolis offenses regresses a bit sooner or later. Jones, in particular, is playing way above where he has before.
But Taylor averaged 102.2 rushing yards in 2024, and Pittman has twice cracked 1,000 receiving yards. Warren was an offensive dynamo in his final year at Penn State and warranted a first-round selection.
Few fans, if any, expected the Colts to have the NFL's best offense. General manager Chris Ballard is seeing a clear return on the draft capital he invested in the skill positions.
