Derrick Henry Makes History, Passes Walter Payton on NFL's All-Time Rushing TD List

Zach BacharOct 26, 2025

Derrick Henry made history on Sunday.

Henry scored his 111th career rushing touchdown in the second quarter of the Baltimore Ravens' matchup with the Chicago Bears, passing NFL legend Walter Payton for No. 5 on the league's all-time list.

The touchdown also gave Baltimore an early 7-6 lead.

Henry now only sits behind iconic former running backs Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marcus Allen and Adrian Peterson for career rushing touchdowns.

He also entered Sunday's action with 11,862 total yards on the ground, ranking No. 17 on the league's all-time leaderboard.

Henry's ability to routinely fight through contact and pick up extra yards has made him one of the greatest short-yardage running backs in NFL history, leading the league in rushing touchdowns on three separate occasions throughout his career.

This included his 2024 season, as he found the end zone 16 times on the ground.

Henry has also recorded a double-digit rushing touchdown total in each of the past seven years. The last time he failed to do so was his second NFL season in 2017, as he only started in two of his 16 appearances.

While Henry's 1,921 rush yards were the second-most in the league last year, he wasn't able to build upon his momentum to open his 2025 campaign.

He only averaged 63.4 yards per game on the ground through the first five games of the season, although he entered Sunday's action on the heels of a 122-yard performance against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.
