The 25-year-old Aussie improved to 10-1 in his career with the victory, and he has now reeled off 10 consecutive wins, including each of the past four under the UFC umbrella.

Haqparast, a 30-year-old veteran from Germany, represented arguably the toughest challenge of Salkilld's career to date.

Entering UFC 321, Haqparast owned an 18-5 record, and he was riding a five-fight winning streak in the UFC.

The nature in which Salkilld won was a statement in the lightweight division, and it figures to lead to bigger and better fights for him moving forward.

Salkilld's decisive kick set the tone for what promises to be an exciting and tightly contested main card at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
