Eagles Owner Discusses Hypothetical A.J. Brown Trade Request Amid NFL Rumors on WR

Mike ChiariOct 25, 2025

Amid constant rumors and speculation regarding a potential trade of three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie addressed his stance on the subject this week.

When asked by Dianna Russini of The Athletic what the organization would do if Brown were to request a trade, Lurie responded: "We do what's best for the team. We don't even consider it seriously unless it's best for the Eagles. We will always do what gives us the best chance of winning big. Everything else is secondary."

Last month, Russini reported that opposing teams were "poking around" Brown during the offseason in hopes that the Eagles would part ways with him, but general manager Howie Roseman told them, "No dice."

However, an anonymous AFC general manager offered a prediction to Russini this month, telling her they thought the Eagles would move Brown before the trade deadline because he "looks indifferent."

Over the past couple of years, Brown has become known for posting and deleting cryptic messages on his social media accounts.

Per Russini, that occurred again after last weekend's win over the Minnesota Vikings when Brown included the caption, "Using me but not using me," along with photos on his Instagram page.

Last week marked Brown's best game of the season, as he finished with four receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns, but his post left observers wondering if he was still frustrated.

Aside from his game against the Vikings and a six-catch, 109-yard, one-touchdown performance against the Los Angeles Rams, Brown's production this season has been modest.

He hasn't exceeded 80 yards or scored a touchdown in any other game for the 5-2 Eagles, and he has four games with 43 or fewer yards.

Overall, Brown has 29 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns, meaning he is trending toward finishing with less than 1,000 yards for the first time since the 2021 season.

Brown's pace won't be helped by the fact that he has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury.

Lurie didn't make a commitment to a Brown trade one way or another, but the fact that he didn't shoot down the idea suggests he may at least be amenable to it if he believes it would benefit the team as a whole.
