Vikings' Justin Jefferson Becomes Youngest in NFL History to Reach 8K Receiving Yards

Paul KasabianOct 23, 2025

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson became the youngest player in NFL history at 26 years and 129 days to amass 8,000 career receiving yards during his team's road game at the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday.

Jefferson achieved the feat after catching a three-yard pass late in the second quarter, giving him four catches for 40 yards for the game at the time and an even 8,000 receiving yards lifetime.

Jefferson is one of the game's elite wide receivers. He's a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time First Team All-Pro who won the 2022 Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year award. He's amassed at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first five seasons, even in 2023, when he missed seven games due to injury. Jefferson's best season was 2022, when he paced the NFL in catches (128) and yards (1,809).

Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Vikings superstar Randy Moss previously held the record for the youngest player to surpass 8,000 yards at 26 years and 297 days old, per Vikings.com senior editor Craig Peters.

Jefferson also amassed the fewest games played en route to 8,000 career yards in NFL history. Per Billy Heyen of the Sporting News, the record was previously set by Atlanta Falcons star Julio Jones (85 games). Jefferson got it done in his 84th game.

It's an incredible achievement for one of the NFL's most electric talents. And at this point, it's conceivable that we could be seeing Jefferson hit 10,000 yards before the end of the 2026 season. Only 57 players have achieved that feat.
