Bills Reportedly Could Be In WR Market at 2025 Trade Deadline amid NFL Rumors

Julia StumbaughOct 23, 2025

The Buffalo Bills could be considering adding another target for reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen before the trade window closes Nov. 4.

CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported Thursday that some NFL insiders believe general manager Brandon Beane "could go after a receiver again" after targeting the position ahead of the 2024 trade deadline.

The Bills acquired Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns last October in the hope he could step in for Stefon Diggs as Allen's top target.

Cooper was unable to serve as a long-term solution as WR1, missing time with a wrist injury and playing only a limited role during the Bills' run to the AFC Championship. He ultimately left to join the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency before retiring ahead of the 2025 season.

The Bills have meanwhile leaned on tight end Dalton Kincaid alongside a receiving trio of Joshua Palmer, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman through the first six games of the 2025 season.

Buffalo may be looking to shake that depth chart amid a two-game losing streak, most recently including a Week 6 loss at the Atlanta Falcons in which Allen and the Bills were held to a season-low 157 passing yards.

Palmer was also sidelined with an ankle injury in that defeat, and head coach Sean McDermott recently described the receiver's injury as "week-to-week."

Especially if Palmer ends up on the injured reserve, the Bills could use a top option to slot in ahead of Shakir and Coleman on the depth chart.

It is not yet clear, however, if some of the top rumored trade candidates at the position will ultimately be shopped ahead of the deadline.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has denied rumors that his team is considering trading starters, including wideout Jaylen Waddle, while New Orleans Saints receiver Chris Olave said he is on the "same page" with his team while discussing an extension ahead of the deadline.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has meanwhile made it clear he still wants to be moved, although the franchise has been denying his trade request since at least this summer.

Should any of those players ultimately hit the trade block, the Bills could potentially end up in a bidding war with the Pittsburgh Steelers for their services. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport recently reported the Steelers want to add a top wideout to pair with DK Metcalf ahead of the deadline.
