Jayden Daniels Reportedly Has 'Real Possibility' to Miss Just 1 Game amid Injury

Scott PolacekOct 24, 2025

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has a "very real possibility" of only missing one game due to a hamstring injury that already has him ruled out for Monday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Daniels' health has been a storyline throughout the season, as he missed games against the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons in September because of a knee injury and then suffered a hamstring injury during the team's Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Rapoport previously reported the hamstring setback was "not long-term at all" but enough to sideline Daniels against the Chiefs.

Daniels was an immediate sensation as the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year who was selected to the Pro Bowl and led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game. However, injuries largely prevented him from fully building on that during the start of his second season.

Fortunately for Washington, it has an experienced backup quarterback in Marcus Mariota.

Mariota entered the 2025 season with 74 career starts and is someone who can keep the offense afloat with both his legs and his arm. His career includes stops with the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles.

While Mariota is a better option than many backups, the Commanders' ceiling is still much lower when Daniels isn't on the field.
