DeMeco Ryans Backs OC Nick Caley, Says 'It's My Job' to Fix Texans' Issues
Offense has been a slog for the Houston Texans at the start of the 2025 season, but head coach DeMeco Ryans isn't blaming offensive coordinator Nick Caley or anyone else but himself.
"We're pressing forward with everybody that we have," he told reporters Tuesday. "If you all want to point the finger, it all starts with me. Ultimately it's my job to get it fixed. We're rolling with what we have and we've all got to do better."
Houston entered the season as the back-to-back reigning AFC South champion and surely expected more of the same in 2025. However, it is just 2-4 after Monday's loss to the Seattle Seahawks and well behind the 6-1 Indianapolis Colts in the division race.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Offense has been the primary issue, as it is 21st in the league in points per game and 23rd in yards per game.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud has solid-but-unspectacular numbers while completing 64.8 percent of his passes for 1,305 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions, but he is under constant duress because of a poor offensive line and hasn't shown the same type of consistency as he did when he threw for 4,108 yards as a rookie in 2023.
Houston's first offensive touchdown in Sunday's 27-19 loss didn't come until there were fewer than three minutes remaining in the game.
It remained within striking distance thanks in large part to a defensive touchdown in the third quarter, but the offense never found a rhythm in the loss. That it came after a bye week and two straight wins likely made it all the more frustrating.
The next three games are against teams with winning records in the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars, so the Texans need to figure something out on the offensive side relatively quickly before the season slips away from them.
And Ryans made it clear finding that solution is his responsibility.
