Notre Dame guard Hannah Hidalgo and UCLA center Lauren Betts were overwhelming picks for the Associated Press' All-American first team

2025-26 Preseason AP All-American Team

  • Hannah Hidalgo, G, Notre Dame
  • Ta'Niya Latson, G, South Carolina
  • Sarah Strong, F, UConn
  • Madison Booker, F, Texas
  • Lauren Betts, C, UCLA

Hidalgo is trying to become an AP All-American for the third straight season. She averaged 23.8 points, 3.6 assists and 3.7 steals in 2024-25, burnishing her reputation as one of the best two-way talents in the country.

"I know the weight of that is heavy, the crown is super heavy," Notre Dame coach Niele Ivey told Feinberg. "But I feel like she has done a great job of surrounding herself with the right network, the Notre Dame network, but also her family. She is very grounded with her family and her faith."

Betts is vying to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA draft. Since transferring to UCLA in 2023, the 6'7" big has averaged 17.7 points on 64.6 percent shooting along with 2.5 blocks and 9.4 rebounds.

Traditional centers are falling out of vogue in the WNBA, but Betts is so good that teams may not care much.

When it comes to Strong, general managers are already counting down to when she'll be draft-eligible.

As a true freshman, the 6'2" forward averaged 16.4 points and 8.9 rebounds. During the Huskies' NCAA tournament run, she had four double-doubles, culminating in a 24-point, 15-rebound showing in the title game against South Carolina.

With Paige Bueckers no longer in Storrs, this could be when Strong cements herself as the next great UConn player.

Like Hidalgo, Booker is another member of the loaded 2023 recruiting class.

Her scoring (16.0 points) and rebounding (6.6 boards) averages remained pretty close to their 2023-24 equivalents. The Longhorns star also showed improvement as a shooter, knocking down six more three-pointers on 62 attempts, her same number of long-range efforts as a freshman.

Ta'Niya Latson is one of the more intriguing players in the country as she's tasked with helping to fill the void left by MiLaysia Fulwiley, who transferred to LSU. The Division I leading scorer (25.2 points) as a junior at Florida State, she could help take South Carolina's offense to the next level.
