Maxx Crosby Reportedly Eyed by Cowboys in Trade Talks with Raiders amid NFL Rumors

Mike ChiariOct 21, 2025

After trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers prior to the start of the 2025 NFL regular season, the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly showing interest in another superstar pass-rusher.

According to former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo, the Cowboys "have made inquiries" about a potential trade for Las Vegas Raiders pass-rusher Maxx Crosby.

Wingo, who hosts the Straight Facts Homie! podcast, did not mention if the Raiders have reciprocated interest in a trade involving Crosby.

Crosby, 28, is in the midst of his seventh NFL season, all of which have been spent with the Raiders.

The 2019 fourth-round pick out of Eastern Michigan has been named a Pro Bowler in each of the past four seasons, and he is perhaps trending toward a fifth Pro Bowl selection in a row with four sacks, 28 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble through seven games.

Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Raiders in March, meaning he is under contract through the 2029 season.

However, the Raiders have struggled to a 2-5 start, and they have shown no signs of being a playoff contender despite key additions in quarterback Geno Smith, rookie running back Ashton Jeanty and head coach Pete Carroll.

While teams don't typically trade away a star player so soon after extending him, perhaps it is fair to wonder if the Raiders would be open to the idea of making a move amid their issues.

As for the Cowboys, they are 3-3-1 and lead the NFL with 390.6 total offensive yards per game, while ranking second in scoring with 31.7 points per game.

Led by quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, running back Javonte Williams and tight end Jake Ferguson, Dallas arguably has a Super Bowl-caliber offense.

However, the defense has been predictably bad without Parsons and without any type of consistent pass-rushing presence.

The Cowboys rank last in the league in total defense with 401.6 yards allowed per game and 30th in scoring defense with 29.4 points allowed per game. They are also only in the middle of the pack in sacks with 15 on the season.

There is little doubt that Crosby would be a game-changer for the Dallas defense and a suitable replacement for what they lost when they traded Parsons.

The Raiders must make Crosby available and have an asking price that the Cowboys are willing to pay in order to make that happen, though, and there isn't yet any indication of that being the case.
