George Pickens Contract Extension 'Has Crossed Our Minds,' Cowboys' Jerry Jones Says
Amid a strong start to the 2025 season in his first year with the Dallas Cowboys, star receiver George Pickens could be rewarded soon.
During his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about a potential contract extension for Pickens, and he responded, "Any and everything about George Pickens has crossed our minds. … Certainly he's a topic of interest and discussions because of the success he's having."
After being acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers this past offseason, Pickens is making just $3.7 million in the final year of his rookie contract. Upon his arrival to Dallas, Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS reported at the time that Pickens was not seeking a contract extension, with a source saying that he "wants to show he's a top guy this year."

Pickens has certainly proven his worth so far, as he leads the Cowboys with 607 receiving yards, which ranks fourth in the NFL, and is tied for the team lead with six receiving touchdowns. He stepped into the No. 1 receiver role amid the absence of star wideout CeeDee Lamb, who had missed three games with an ankle injury before returning with five catches for 110 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders.
Now that Lamb is back to full strength, Pickens will focus on proving that he can be a strong complimentary piece next to the four-time Pro Bowler. The two of them should be one of the most productive receiving duos in the league in a passing attack led by star quarterback Dak Prescott, who has been playing at an MVP level this season.
If Pickens keeps up his strong play, he will undoubtedly earn a major payday from the Cowboys to keep him in the fold for years to come.
