Week 8 Waiver Wire Fantasy Projections for Top Pickups and Sleeper Targets

Kristopher KnoxOct 22, 2025

Through the first seven weeks of the 2025 NFL season, it's certainly felt like working the waiver wire has been necessary in fantasy football. Even before bye weeks hit, injuries took several notable stars off the board—and they certainly haven't stopped coming.

Now, bye weeks are further cutting into managers' lineup options. This week is shaping up to be one of the trickiest of the season to date.

The Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks will be out of action.

Here, you'll find some top sleepers to consider off the waiver wire, along with point-per-reception (PPR) suggestions for Week 8.

Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants

Don't let the New York Giants' crushing Week 7 collapse distract from the fact that Jaxson Dart has been a serviceable fantasy streamer this season. It isn't always pretty, and the rookie will make mistakes—a critical interception helped to spark the Denver Broncos' comeback. However, Dart's scrambling ability gives him a reasonable floor.

While Dart didn't do much scrambling against Denver, he rushed for at least 50 yards in each of his previous three starts. He also threw a trio of touchdown passes against the Broncos that helped cover for the lack of carries.

Dart doesn't have an ideal matchup this week, as the rival Philadelphia Eagles have allowed the 16th-fewest fantasy points to opposing QBs. It's not a dire matchup either, though, and Dart ran for 58 yards and a touchdown the last time he faced Philly.

Managers can still find Dart available in over 50 percent of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Week 8 Projection: 176 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 62 rushing yards, 1 TD

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Bills Falcons Football

In addition to being a Bijan Robinson handcuff, Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier has had some matchup-based flex potential in 2025. While Atlanta has allowed Robinson to carry the load more often than not, Allgeier has gotten some run in games the Falcons are trying to close out.

In wins against the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills, Allgeier logged double-digit carries and found the end zone.

This should be another "up" week for Allgeier, as the Falcons are set to host a struggling Miami Dolphins team. Atlanta should spend most of the game playing with a lead, and the Dolphins have surrendered the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season.

Allgeier is still far from a sure thing, but in a week with so many stars on bye, he's worth grabbing. He's still available in over 60 percent of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Week 8 Projection: 68 rushing yards, 1 TD

Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Denver Broncos

3 of 4
Giants Broncos Football

The Broncos engineered an epic comeback on Sunday, racking up 33 points in the fourth quarter to topple New York. Receiver Marvin Mims Jr. played a fairly significant role in the performance.

Mims caught six of seven targets for 85 yards against the Giants.

This week, Mims and the rest of the Broncos receiving corps will likely be put to work once again. The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most prolific offenses in the league, and Denver will probably have to pass often to keep pace.

That bodes well for wideouts like Mims, as the Cowboys have surrendered more fantasy points to opposing receivers than any other team this season. Mims is rostered in just 23 percent of Yahoo leagues and 20 percent of ESPN leagues.

Week 8 Projection: 6 catches, 71 yards, 1 TD

Oronde Gadsden II, TE, Los Angeles Chargers

4 of 4
Chargers Dolphins Football

Managers can expect Los Angeles Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden II to be a popular wire target this week. Though his Week 7 production largely came in a garbage-time comeback effort, Gadsden still racked up seven catches for 164 yards and a touchdown.

Gadsden's Week 7 production might not be a mirage either. He also had seven catches in Week 6, albeit for a more modest (but still good) 68 yards.

While Gadsden's Week 8 matchup isn't great—the Minnesota Vikings have surrendered the 11th-fewest fantasy points to opposing TEs—the rookie out of Syracuse should still have a reasonable floor.

Gadsden is available in over 90 percent of Yahoo and ESPN leagues.

Week 8 Projection: 5 catches, 59 yards
