49ers' Brock Purdy Reportedly Didn't 'Feel That Great' at Workout, Injury Status TBD
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has missed five games this season with a nagging turf toe injury, and it's still unclear how close he is to returning.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini provided some insight into where Purdy's at heading into Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans on the Scoop City podcast. She noted that Week 8 had "been circled" as Purdy's return date, but the injury is still "very day-to-day."
Russini added that Purdy went through a workout on the field before Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons and didn't "feel that great."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After starting Week 1 for the Niners, Purdy missed a pair of games before returning in Week 4. His return wasn't permanent, however, and he's missed the last three games.
While Purdy's status is day-to-day, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that's unlikely that he'll play this week.
San Francisco ultimately wants Purdy back on the field, but Mac Jones has played well while filling in for him. The first-year 49er has thrown for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions in his five starts, winning four of those five contests.
He had just 152 yards and an interception on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, but it was enough to give San Francisco the win.
Jones' strong play gives the 49ers and Purdy some reassurance that he doesn't have to rush back to the field and can instead focus on ensuring he's fully healthy.
