Tyler Lockett Reportedly Released by Titans After Request, Had 10 Catches in 7 Games
Tyler Lockett's time with the Tennessee Titans is reportedly over.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday the veteran wide receiver was granted a release from the AFC South team after he asked for one. That means he will be able to sign with other teams starting Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
Tennessee signed Lockett this offseason, which marked the first time in his NFL career he joined a team outside of the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle selected him in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft, and he played his first 10 seasons for the team.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro First-Team selection in his rookie campaign and tallied more than 1,000 receiving yards in four straight seasons from 2019 through 2022. He also appeared in seven different playoff games during his tenure.
Despite his impressive track record in Seattle, he has been nothing more than a secondary contributor for the Titans. Lockett has 10 catches for 70 yards and zero touchdowns through seven games, which puts him in eighth place on the team for total catches.
He was overshadowed by Calvin Ridley, Elic Ayomanor and others and didn't appear to have clear-cut chemistry with rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
At this point, the 1-6 Titans are playing out the string on a lost season. They already fired head coach Brian Callahan and are surely shifting their focus toward maximizing Ward's long-term success.
For as talented as Lockett is, he likely wasn't going to be a factor for the Titans when they are ready to contend down the line.
This move allows the team to move on and focus on younger players while the player can perhaps find a spot on a contender heading into the stretch run of the season.
