Falcons' Michael Penix Suffered Bone Bruise in Foot vs. 49ers, Day-to-Day with Injury
Michael Penix Jr.'s status for this week's matchup against the Miami Dolphins is up in the air after suffering an injury.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said Monday that the quarterback has a bone bruise in his foot and is considered to be day-to-day.
After taking a couple of hard hits in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Penix appeared to be a bit shaken up, and Morris addressed the injury afterwards.

"Obviously, we've got to let him go get evaluated," Morris told reporters in his postgame press conference. "He gave me the thumbs up on the sideline when we were asking him, so he was OK to finish. We'll see where he is tomorrow."
Penix threw for 241 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-38 passing as the Falcons fell to 3-3 on the year on Sunday.
Penix, a second-year quarterback drafted eighth overall in 2024, has thrown for 1,409 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions through six games.
The good news for Atlanta is that even if Penix isn't able to suit up this week, the Falcons don't exactly have a daunting matchup ahead. The Dolphins dropped to 1-6 on the season after a 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
The Falcons also have an experienced backup ready to play if Penix is unable.
Kirk Cousins, who Atlanta signed to a four-year, $180 million contract in 2024, has appeared in one game following last year's benching, throwing for 29 yards on 5-of-7 passing.
The Falcons are hoping to snap a seven-year playoff drought this season, but inconsistency has been a bit of an issue. Atlanta has looked like a playoff contender at times, with wins over the Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills, but also has had some rough moments, like a 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
With a manageable opponent on deck, the Falcons will look to hit the reset button after Sunday's loss. Having Penix in the fold would make things much easier.
