NFL Coach Blames DK Metcalf for Aaron Rodgers INT in Steelers' Loss vs. Bengals

Doric SamOct 20, 2025

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a pair of interceptions in Thursday night's 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, but according to some around the NFL, at least one of them wasn't his fault.

Rodgers was targeting star receiver DK Metcalf on both throws, and his first pick was a deep shot that sailed past the wideout and into the hands of Bengals safety Jordan Battle. However, a coach from another team told The Athletic's Mike Sando that Metcalf was to blame.

"It was Metcalf's fault, and no one is saying it," the coach said. "They are saying, 'One-high safety, Rodgers predetermined his read.' He actually predetermined that the guy is going to run full speed the whole route."

On the second interception, DJ Turner II made a spectacular play by ripping the ball from Metcalf's hands.

The Steelers had their three-game winning streak snapped with Thursday night's loss, dropping their record to 4-2. However, they maintained their top spot in the AFC North.

Metcalf will have to be on point to help the Steelers bounce back when they meet the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football in Week 8 in a reunion with Rodgers' former team.
