Pete Carroll's Raiders Called 'Brutal' by NFL Exec When 'They Can't Run the Ball'

Doric SamOct 20, 2025

The Las Vegas Raiders' offensive woes continued in Sunday's 31-0 shutout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, dropping their record to 2-5 in their first year under head coach Pete Carroll.

An NFL executive pointed to the Raiders' lackluster rushing offense as the reason for their struggles this season.

"The Raiders, if they can't run the ball, it's just brutal," the exec told The Athletic's Mike Sando. "They were hard to watch even when they beat Tennessee."

Las Vegas mustered just 25 rushing yards on 11 carries against Kansas City. Star rookie running back Ashton Jeanty carried the ball just six times for a season-low 21 yards while catching one pass for 13 yards.

The Raiders rank 27th in rushing offense with 93.7 yards per game and 31st in scoring with 14.7 points per game. Chip Kelly is the NFL's highest-paid offensive coordinator, but his early partnership with Carroll hasn't yielded positive results.

Las Vegas will be on a bye in Week 8, so it's up to Carroll to figure out a solution before the team returns to action on Nov. 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
