World Series 2025 Full Schedule and Potential Pitching Matchups in the Bracket

Joe TanseyOct 18, 2025

The Los Angeles Dodgers' presence in the 2025 World Series confirms there will be some dynamic pitchers on the mound.

All four of the Dodgers starters pitched well in the NLCS. They will have to put in similar starts to keep the Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays at bay in the Fall Classic.

Seattle and Toronto each boast a set of dynamic arms as well. The ALCS winner, regardless of who it is, will pose a bigger challenge to the Dodgers from a pitching standpoint.

The World Series matchup will at least produce some incredible pitching showdowns, something that isn't guaranteed in the age of managing starters and openers.

2025 World Series Schedule

1 of 4
Championship Series - Milwaukee Brewers v Los Angeles Dodgers - Game 4

Game 1: Friday, October 24

Game 2: Saturday, October 25

Game 3: Monday, October 27

Game 4: Tuesday, October 28

Game 5 (if necessary): Wednesday, October 29

Game 6 (if necessary): Friday, October 31

Game 7 (if necessary): Saturday, November 1

Blake Snell vs. Logan Gilbert

2 of 4
Championship Series - Los Angeles Dodgers v Milwaukee Brewers - Game 1

If Seattle wins one of two games in Toronto, Blake Snell versus Logan Gilbert is the likely World Series Game 1 pitching matchup.

The Dodgers will be on full rest, so their rotation should remain similar to the NLCS. The ALCS will end no later than Sunday, so Seattle or Toronto will have their starters pitch on full rest, starting with World Series Game 1 on Friday.

Snell has been fantastic this postseason for the Dodgers with 28 strikeouts, six hits allowed and two earned runs conceded 21 innings.

Snell has 18 strikeouts in two previous World Series starts. He allowed four hits and three earned runs in those appearances, but he only lasted 10 innings.

A longer start should be in the cards for Snell in Game 1 given how well he's pitched so far this postseason.

Gilbert, who started ALCS Game 2 and likely will start ALCS Game 6, would be Seattle's Game 1 starter if the staff is on full rest.

Gilbert hasn't been as effective as Snell, but he has the strikeout stuff to fool the Dodgers lineup and keep the Mariners in the contest.

If the series goes long, Snell-versus-Gilbert could pop up twice in Games 1 and 5.

Shohei Ohtani vs. Max Scherzer

3 of 4
American League Championship Series - Toronto Blue Jay v Seattle Mariners - Game Four

The narratives in play for a Shohei Ohtani-Max Scherzer pitching matchup would be fascinating.

Ohtani is the best player in baseball destined for his second World Series title in two years with the Dodgers, and in addition to his stellar hitting, he's been incredible on the mound for the NL champion as well.

Scherzer was one of the top pitchers of the last generation of stars, but he displayed in ALCS Game 4, that the old dog has plenty of bite left in him.

Scherzer started World Series games for three different franchises, and if ALCS Game 4 is any indicator, he can find his old form to match whatever Ohtani produces.

If the Dodgers and Blue Jays keep with the same LCS rotations, Ohtani-Scherzer would take place in a Game 4 that could shift the entire dynamic of the series.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Bryan Woo

4 of 4
National League Championship Series - Los Angeles Dodgers v Milwaukee Brewers - Game Two

Yoshinobu Yamamoto would be the Dodgers' Game 1 starter if Snell wasn't on the roster.

Yamamoto's been stellar in his own right during the Dodgers' run to the World Series. He pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts in NLCS Game 2.

Yamamoto is penciled in to start World Series Game 2, which might come against Seattle's Bryan Woo.

Woo, who was Seattle's best starter in the regular season, made a two-inning appearance out of the bullpen in ALCS Game 5. That was his first appearance since September 19.

Woo might not be geared up to start early in the World Series, but if he is available, he gives Seattle the best chance to steal a game for the Mariners off Snell or Yamamoto.
