Jets HC Aaron Glenn Reportedly Won't Be Fired, Contract is More Than Robert Saleh Had

Zach BacharOct 17, 2025

New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn's job security reportedly isn't in jeopardy despite the team's struggles to open the 2025 season.

According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, Glenn won't be fired during the current regular season or the upcoming offseason.

Per Rosenblatt, Jets owner Woody Johnson has "mostly stayed out of the way" and allowed Glenn to build his team after paying him a higher salary than former head coach Robert Saleh.

Saleh, who was fired by New York five games into the 2024 season, was reportedly earning $5 million per year.

The Jets haven't started Glenn's tenure on a high note, sitting at 0-6 through six weeks. They're currently the only winless team remaining in the NFL.

While Glenn was expected to provide a boost to New York's defense, the unit has taken a step back compared to 2024. The Jets went from giving up 313.8 yards and 23.8 points per game last season to allowing 330.5 yards and 28.3 points per game in 2025.

Still, Glenn has stressed patience with his approach to the team.

"I understand the outside noise and I'm not affected by outside noise because I know exactly what we're trying to build here," Glenn said after Week 2, per Newsday's Al Iannazzone. "I wish it was instant coffee, but it's not. These things take time."

Glenn knows what it takes to build over time, as the Detroit Lions owned the NFL's No. 31 scoring defense during his first year as the team's defensive coordinator in 2021.

During his final year with Detroit in 2024, the Lions boasted the league's No. 7 scoring defense by allowing a mere 20.1 points per game.

With Glenn continuing to patrol the sidelines, the Jets will look to record their first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
