NLCS Predictions
2 of 3
The Los Angeles Dodgers will return to the World Series for a chance at repeating as champions.
They took a commanding 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series Thursday night with a 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, whose small ball has not proven effective against the defending champs.
The Brewers have managed just nine hits in three games against Los Angeles, who have gotten stellar outings from Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow.
Their defense has been impeccable, and for a team that had doubters after advancing to the league championship series after Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering's error, they look every bit like the best team in the game.
The Dodgers have put up 10 runs in three games, enough for the Brewers to have no real opportunity to fight their way back into the games.
In front of a home crowd Friday night, with Shohei Ohtani on the mound, the Dodgers should complete the sweep and advance to their fourth World Series since 2018, with a chance to win their second.
Prediction: Los Angeles completes the sweep
ALCS Prediction
3 of 3
The away team has won every game in the American League Championship Series to this point, with a hefty number of runs being put up between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners.
The teams have accounted for 44 runs through four games and no signs of that stopping.
The Blue Jays tied the series Thursday, throwing up eight runs to the Mariners' three and making the series far more interesting than the National League's offering. The teams will clash in a pivotal, momentum-swinging Game 5 Friday night, with Kevin Gausman on the mound for Toronto and Bryce Miller starting for Seattle.
Both have won in the postseason and Gausman's ERA (2.38) is only slightly better than Miller's (2.61). The latter, arguably, faces a tougher test, though, as the Blue Jays have come out swinging and have 21 of those aforementioned 44 runs in the last two games.
How Seattle silences the bats, or at least slows them, will determine how much longer they can stay competitive and keep their dreams of competing in the organization's first World Series a reality.
The keys to a Mariners win will be AL MVP candidate Cal Raleigh and NLDS hero Josh Naylor, both of whom have great career batting numbers against Gausman. If they can heat and up and carry the rest of the team with them, Seattle will have a chance.
If not, and Miller struggles, it will be a long plane ride to Toronto, where the fans will be overjoyed at the prospects of watching their Blue Jays potentially return to the Fall Classic for the first time since 1993.
