CeeDee Lamb to Return from Injury for Cowboys vs. Commanders, Won't Be on Snap Count

Zach BacharOct 16, 2025

Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb confirmed to reporters on Thursday that he'll return from a high ankle sprain against the Washington Commanders in Week 7 and won't play on a snap count.

Lamb has been sidelined for Dallas' past three games because of the ankle injury that he suffered early in a Week 3 loss to the Chicago Bears.

The 26-year-old appeared to be trending towards playing prior to his announcement, as he returned to practice on Wednesday before participating in Thursday's session on a limited basis.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also reported Wednesday that Lamb had "a chance" to come back against the Commanders.

The four-time Pro Bowl wideout was off to another strong start to the year before the injury against Chicago, hauling in 16 receptions for 222 yards through two weeks.

While the Cowboys only own a 1-1-1 record in the three games Lamb missed, their passing attack remained sharp due to the emergence of George Pickens.

Pickens stepped up to become Dak Prescott's new No. 1 target, catching 19 passes for 359 yards and four touchdowns in three contests without Lamb.

Still, having both receivers back on the field should make Dallas' offense even more effective moving forward. Washington's secondary has dealt with some inconsistency to open the 2025 season, ranking No. 23 in pass defense among all teams by allowing 235.2 yards per game through the air.

Kickoff between the Cowboys and Commanders is on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
