Bengals' Trey Hendrickson Reportedly Expected to Be Out vs. Steelers With Injury

Doric SamOct 16, 2025

The Cincinnati Bengals are reportedly likely to be without one of their top defensive players for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson is expected to miss the game due to an injury. Hendrickson was listed as questionable for Thursday's game with a hip injury and hoped to play, but the short turnaround was "tough."

Hendrickson suffered a back injury in Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers that forced him to exit in the first half. He didn't return to the game as the Bengals suffered a 27-18 loss to fall to 2-4 this season.

In the wake of the back injury, Hendrickson was listed with a hip injury on Cincinnati's injury report during the week.

Hendrickson leads the Bengals with four sacks while adding 15 total tackles, three tackles for loss, a pass defended and a forced fumble. He led the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season.

While Cincinnati will be dealing with the loss of Hendrickson, Pittsburgh got some more positive injury news. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Steelers safety DeShon Elliott has arrived in Cincinnati and is expected to play in Thursday's game after dealing with a personal issue. In three games this year, Elliott has 24 total tackles, two passes defended, an interception, a sack and a forced fumble.

At 4-1, Pittsburgh is the only team in the AFC North with a record above .500. The Steelers will be going for their fourth straight win on Thursday night, so it won't be easy for the Bengals to knock them from their perch with Hendrickson sidelined.
