Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
For now, Lynn may not have a lot of work to do on Jeanty's behalf. As a first-round pick in the 2025 draft, the former Boise State star is signed for three more seasons and has a club option for 2029. The rookie wage scale locked in his first contract at a total of $35.8 million by virtue of him being the No. 6 overall selection.
The difficult negotiations will come when it's time for Jeanty and the Raiders to discuss a long-term extension.
Through six games, the 5'8", 204-pound ball-carrier has run for 424 yards and three touchdowns on 105 carries. While he hasn't made the impact some were hoping out of the gate, his 138-yard showing in a loss to the Chicago Bears was a possible sign of things to come.
Across the board, the market has tightened for NFL running backs. The Philadelphia Eagles' Saquon Barkley is the highest paid at the position, and his $20.4 million salary accounts for a much lower portion of the cap an elite running backs were getting in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Even if Jeanty is playing at an All-Pro level around 2028 and 2029, the Raiders may try to drive a hard bargain for his next deal.
