Anderson Silva, Chris Weidman to Have Boxing Fight on Jake Paul-Gervonta Davis Card

Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman are slated to meet for a third time, only they'll cross paths in a boxing ring this time around.

Silva and Weidman will be on the undercard for Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis on Nov. 14, Netflix announced on Thursday.

ESPN's Andreas Hale previously reported the news.

Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakisa Bidarian told Hale that Silva's camp first reached out about the idea.

"Once it was clear that both men wanted it, and wanted it as a professional fight, MVP was 100% in given the history between them, reaching a broader generational consumer base and enhancing the event's marketability in Brazil," Bidarian said.

Weidman stunned UFC fans when he knocked Silva out at UFC 162 in July 2013. The middleweight champion got a little too cocky and caught a left hook that sent him to the canvas.

Their rematch at UFC 168 later that year ended abruptly when Silva broke his leg in the second round.

That effectively signaled the beginning of the end for the Hall of Famer. A victory Nick Diaz at UFC 183 in January 2015 was overturned after a positive drug test, and he lost five of his final six UFC fights.

Silva has pivoted to boxing in recent years. He's 3-2 as a professional, most recently losing a unanimous decision to Paul in 2022.

Weidman retired from MMA in January, a month after his TKO loss to Eryk Anders at UFC 310. This will be his first foray into boxing after compiling a 16-8 all-time record inside the cage.

The 41-year-old was supposed to fight Luke Rockhold this year at an event for the Global Fight League, only for the GFL to cancel its planned shows.
