Tim Keenan III NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Los Angeles Rams DT

Matt HolderNov 9, 2025

The Los Angeles Rams selected Alabama DT Tim Keenan III with the No. 232 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Tim Keenan III is exactly what NFL teams are looking for in a nose tackle. Listed at 6'2", 325 pounds, he has a short-but-stout build. He is nearly impossible to move against the run and plugs gaps even when double-teamed. However, the Alabama defensive lineman doesn't offer much as a pass-rusher.

Keenan entered the Crimson Tide's program as a 4-star recruit in the 2021 class but redshirted as a true freshman after suffering an MCL injury during his senior year of high school.

The Birmingham, Alabama native didn't get much playing time until the 2023 campaign, when he became a regular starter and recorded 38 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack. The following season became a breakout campaign, collecting 40 tackles with 7.5 TFLs and 2.5 sacks.

Keenan got off to a slow start this fall after missing Alabama's first three games due to tightrope surgery on his ankle at the end of August. He ended up participating in three contests, collecting 16 tackles, three TFLs and two sacks.

Where He Wins

2 of 5
USF v Alabama

- As a run-defender, Keenan is quick to get his hands up and is very strong at the point of attack to gain control of the block and a leverage advantage against interior offensive linemen.

- He also does a good job of disrupting offensive linemen's path to the second-level, which frees up linebackers.

- Takes on blocks with a wide base and attacks the man he's lined up across to absorb contact against combo blocks and double-teams, thus maintaining his gap responsibilities.

- Effective when two-gapping as a 0-technique.

- Recognizes down-blocks and presents the lower-body strength to avoid getting pushed out of his gap.

- Raw strength to make tackles with offensive linemen hanging onto him.

Areas of Improvement

3 of 5
Georgia v Alabama

- Subpar athlete overall, who lacks lateral movement skills, making Keenan susceptible to getting reached or scooped.

- Has short arms, limiting the amount of extension he can get on blocks and making it more difficult to stack and shed. Also leads to offensive linemen making the first significant contact when he's trying to rush the passer.

- Isn't explosive off the line of scrimmage to consistently collapse the pocket when bull-rushing.

- Doesn't have any pass-rush moves he can win with due to the lack of athleticism and limited hand-usage. He'll be a two-down player in the NFL.

- Keeping Keenan's weight under control is a potential issue. He reportedly showed up to Alabama at 380 pounds after recovering from the high school knee injury, per Sports Illustrated's Katie Windham. His profile on the school's website notes that he "worked to get his weight down" ahead of the 2023 campaign. He also looked heavier after coming back from an ankle injury this year, carrying some bad weight.
