Tyreak Sapp 2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report for Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly signing Florida edge-rusher Tyreak Sapp as an undrafted rookie free agent, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Tyreak Sapp is one of those "strong as a bull" type of edge prospects, combining size—he's listed at 6'3", 274 pounds—and heavy hands to be a good run defender at the next level. He's limited as a pass-rusher, though.

Sapp went to Florida as a 4-star recruit in the 2021 class and redshirted during his first year on campus. He was a rotational player as a redshirt freshman before becoming a starter the following year and enjoying a breakout campaign in 2024, collecting 47 tackles, 13 for loss and seven sacks during that season.

The former Gator had a dip in production this past season, posting 34 tackles, 3.5 TFLs and a sack. He did not receive any postseason recognition in college.

Where He Wins

- Thick build and carries his frame well with little-to-no bad weight.

- Very good upper body strength to get extension on blocks and stand up offensive tackles. Also, Sapp is quick to get his hands up as a run defender and can knock linemen climbing to the second level off their path to help free up linebackers.

- Takes on blocks with a wide base and is hard to move one-on-one against the run. He can set the edge against tackles and create stalemates against interior offensive linemen in short-yardage situations.

- Good block recognition to avoid getting washed inside by down blocks, getting reached or get underneath pullers as the spill player in run fits.

- Quick first step and a decent rip move to help get penetration when slanting.

- Has shown flashes of being able to win as a power rusher with decent long-arm and push-pull moves.

Areas of Improvement

- Not twitchy and lacks explosiveness off the line of scrimmage to threaten offensive tackles with speed as a pass-rusher.

- Subpar explosiveness and change of direction skills hinder his effectiveness at turning speed to power and when bull rushing.

- Use of hands as a pass-rusher is poor; Sapp either drops his hands, is very inaccurate or doesn't have good timing to win the hand fight against offensive tackles.

- Lacks the ideal height for an NFL defensive end and has shorter arms, which also impacts his use of hands and allows offensive linemen to make the first significant contact.

- Could afford to be more violent when shedding to get off blocks.
