Barbasol Championship 2015: Leaderboard Scores and Highlights from Saturday

Joe PantornoJul 18, 2015

The third round of the inaugural Barbasol Championship drew to a close on Saturday evening from the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Alabama.

A crowded leaderboard at the end of Friday's second round only ensured that the trend would remain the same on Saturday, as the tournament enters its first final round with a number of golfers just a few strokes back of the lead.

Continue below for the updated leaderboard and highlights from Saturday's action.

Scott Piercy and Ricky Barnes both went six under par on their third round and are co-leaders at 13 under overall.

Piercy used a start where he birdied four of his first five holes to get his day going. He would birdie three more holes for the rest of his afternoon as a bogey on 15 would be his only blemish of the day.

Barnes used a streak on the back nine in order to find his way into the co-lead. An admirable two under on the front saw him birdie four holes on the back nine. He dropped to 13 under by birdieing two consecutive holes on 16 and 17 to finish strong going into Sunday.

Jason Gore used a charge on the back nine to jump up 28 spots and had a share of the lead at 12 under overall at the time of his finish. Shooting a three-under on his first nine holes, Gore birdied five of his last nine, including three straight from 11 to 13 to go eight under on the day.

Will Wilcox is tied with Gore at 12 under after he went six under on Saturday. After going even on the front nine, Wilcox went on a tear with four birdies and an eagle on 16 that the PGA Tour caught a glimpse of:

They are joined in a tie for third with Emiliano Grillo along with Friday's co-leaders, Whee Kim and Mark Hensby.

Hensby used a furious rally to join the other four in a tie for third. He looked to be destined for a tough day, going two over on the front nine. But a huge finish saw him birdie 14, eagle 16 and birdie 17.

The PGA Tour took a look at his birdie on 17:

Hensby then added a birdie on 11 to put him into a five-way tie behind Barnes and Piercy.

It's anyone's tournament going into the final day as six golfers are within one stroke of each other. Big days have been plentiful at the Barbasol Championship, and it should come as little surprise if another one is needed to take the title. Expect the winner to see his score around the 16- or 17-under range in order to win.
