Week 7 Waiver Wire Breakout Fantasy Football Pickups from Sunday's Box Scores

Michelle BrutonOct 12, 2025

Bye weeks, injuries and breakout rookies continue to confound fantasy managers ahead of Week 7 of the NFL season.

That's what the waiver wire is for.

Even if you're happy with your lineup, you should always be keeping an ear to the ground for breakout players who could give you an edge in your matchups. From a rookie tight end to two young skill players poised to demand more snaps, here are three such players from Week 6 play.

Scoring information (points-per-reception) and rostered percentage via FantasyPros.

Kimani Vidal: RB, Los Angeles Chargers

Rostered: 27%

Week 6 stats: 18 att, 124 rush yds, 3 rec, 14 rec yds, 1 rec TD

If you drafted Omarion Hampton in your league, Week 5 may have left you scrambling to fill a need at running back. Chargers fans probably felt the same, especially with the team needing a bounce-back win after two straight losses.

Kimani Vidal may have put worries to rest for both the Chargers and fantasy managers.

With both Najee Harris and Hampton on injured reserve, Vidal took up the RB1 mantle and ran with it, leading the Chargers to a win over the Miami Dolphins. With Hampton out for the next few weeks, look for Vidal to continue to shoulder the workload for Los Angeles. It's rare for a running back with his snap share to be available at this point in the season, so if you're looking for someone to help with so many prominent running back injuries, put in a claim for Vidal this week.

Kayshon Boutte: WR, New England Patriots

Rostered: 8%

Week 6 stats: 5 rec, 93 rec yds, 2 rec TDs, 26.30 pts

Finding a primary target for Drake Maye in the Patriots offense is a tricky ask, but in Week 6, Boutte finally seemed to catch Maye's eye. With a team-high five receptions and 93 yards to go along with two receiving TDs, Boutte's eye-popping numbers made him one of the fantasy players of the day in the Patriots' win over the New Orleans Saints.

Although the Patriots won't always play against a middling defense like the Saints, Boutte's breakout makes him worth taking a flier on, especially if you're looking for a wide receiver to help during upcoming bye weeks or to cover for an injury.

Harold Fannin Jr.: TE, Cleveland Browns

Rostered: 26%

Week 6 stats: 7 rec, 81 rec yds, 15.10 pts

As questions continue to crop up surrounding Cleveland star tight end David Njoku, rookie Harold Fannin is cementing his status as a must-add on waivers.

Trade rumors were already swirling around Njoku at the start of the season as he entered a contract year. But after he left the game against the Steelers in Week 6 with a late knee injury, Njoku's future with Cleveland has become even more murky.

However, what is abundantly clear is that Fannin is ready for a bigger role with the Browns. The rookie finished his day bringing in seven of 10 targets for 81 yards. It was what fantasy managers needed to see after his first career touchdown in Week 5 painted a false impression of his fantasy readiness (he otherwise had only four receptions on four targets and a 12.1% target share). If Njoku is going to miss any time, you're going to want Fannin to be ready in the wings.
