Kimani Vidal Fantasy Advice After RB1 Breakout over Hassan Haskins in Chargers' Win

Timothy RappOct 12, 2025

There was a debate over whether Kimani Vidal or Hassan Haskins was the running back fantasy players should be targeting after Omarion Hampton was put on injured reserve.

That debate is decidedly over.

Vidal had a monster game on Sunday, finishing with 18 rushes for 124 yards to go along with three receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown in the Los Angeles Chargers' 29-27 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Haskins, meanwhile, rushed just six times for 14 yards and had a catch for nine yards. He did not score a touchdown.

That kind of workload split suggests that Vidal was clearly the top option coming into the game, and he only bolstered that decision with his play on the field. It also burned fantasy players who were led to believe coming into the day that Haskins might be the main man in the backfield.

There is obviously a shelf life on Vidal, given that Hampton will eventually return and was a first-round pick for a reason. But for probably the next month, if you added Vidal it would appear you added a low-end RB2 or fantastic flex option to your lineup.

There's even an argument to be made that you could even consider selling high on him to a struggling team in your league who needs a running back upgrade. You probably can only do that if you have other quality options at running back or in your flex, however, and if you were handcuffing Hampton with Vidal you are better off keeping him.

If you did add Haskins, don't panic just yet. These backup situations sometimes are just hot-hand timeshares, and Haskins may be one untimely Vidal fumble away from being the main man in this backfield for a few weeks. That keeps him firmly in the RB4 mix for now, with the potential to be much more.

He was the wrong waiver-wire priority, at least for this week. But things change fast in the NFL, so unless you can't afford to keep him in a bench spot, hold onto him.
