Alex Pereira Broke Foot at UFC 320, Still Eyes Jon Jones White House Fight amid Injury

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira told reporters at a UFC Fight Night: Oliveira vs. Gamrot question-and-answer session from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that he suffered a broken foot at UFC 320 last Saturday, when he beat Magomed Ankalaev via first-round TKO for his championship belt.

However, Pereira still confirmed that he is looking to fight former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion Jon Jones at the White House next June.

President Donald Trump previously confirmed to reporters on Sunday during an address in Norfolk, Virginia that the White House plans to host a UFC live event on June 14 in honor and celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence.

"On June 14, next year, we're going to have a big UFC fight at the White House, right at the White House grounds," President Trump said, per ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Pereira made clear after his UFC 320 win that he wants a superfight at heavyweight with Jones.

Jones retired last June, seemingly ending his career as arguably the best fighter and champion in UFC history.

However, that retirement appeared to potentially be short-lived after President Trump announced last July that he wanted a UFC fight to be held at the White House.

Jones is officially back in the UFC testing pool after submitting three samples, per Shakiel Mahjouri of CBS Sports.

So the table is set for a potential superfight. A Pereira-Jones bout would be a massive matchup and draw, one that would spark a ton of interest. Whether it goes down remains to be seen, but it's clear that Pereira wants it to happen.

As for Jones, he's at the very least quite impressed with the champion's most recent performance.

Perhaps the duo's next UFC stop will be the main event at the White House next summer.
