Cam Skattebo Atones for Week 5 Fumble, Hypes Giants' OL in Dominant Win vs. Eagles

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo gave a shoutout to the team's offensive line following a lopsided 34-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.

Skattebo finished with 98 rush yards and three touchdowns in the victory after he vowed to bounce back from a costly fumble he committed during New York's 26-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.

He became the first Giants running back to total three rushing touchdowns in a single game since 2011.

Skattebo's performance was crucial in New York's latest win, as all three of his touchdowns came after the Eagles took a 17-13 lead in the second quarter.

His ability to pick up contact and fight through tackles in short-yardage situations also helped the Giants consistently move the chains, converting 11 of their 16 opportunities on third down.

The respect between Skattebo and New York's offensive line is mutual, as left tackle Andrew Thomas explained how the rookie energizes the starters in the trenches.

"He's a physical back. He's a football back. That's how he runs," Thomas said, per Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano. "He gives us juice. And it's great for us, especially up front. He gets those dirty yards. If it's not clean he's going to squeeze out and extra 2-3 yards and that's good for the offense."

The Giants selected Skattebo with a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, quickly carving out a role as their starting running back.

In six games this season, he's picked up 493 yards from scrimmage and five total touchdowns.

While he's quickly developed a reputation for his physical running style, New York's offensive line has also helped him begin his inaugural NFL season on a high note.

Skattebo's 233 rush yards before contact this year are the second-most in the league (via Pro Football Reference).

The Giants improved to 2-4 with Thursday's victory and have now won two of their past three games.
