The Pittsburgh Penguins' alternate uniforms for the 2025-26 season were officially unveiled on Thursday.

Prior to Pittsburgh's home opener against the New York Islanders, the team posted pictures and a video of the new gold jerseys on social media.

The uniforms will be worn by the Penguins 11 times this season, including Thursday night.

A new feature on the wardrobe is the inclusion of a triangular shoulder patch that contains three river waves to mimic Pittsburgh's three rivers consisting of the Allegheny, the Ohio and the Monongahela.

The names and numbers on each jersey are also a tribute to the city's historic trolley car system, per the team's official announcement. Meanwhile, the label on the bottom of the backside of the uniform shows Pittsburgh's iconic yellow bridge design.

The overall gold coloring mirrors the gold jerseys worn by the Penguins in the 1980s, during the start of franchise icon Mario Lemieux's tenure with the team. Pittsburgh previously wore gold jerseys during the 2018-19 season as well.

The Penguins enter their 2025-26 campaign looking to snap a three-year playoff drought, attempting to build upon a 34-36-12 record last season led by first-year head coach Dan Muse.

Pittsburgh started its 2025-26 season on a high note, defeating the New York Rangers by the final score of 3-0 to open the year on Tuesday.
