Jaxson Dart Talks Meeting Cam Skattebo, 'We Said 3 Words... and Just Head-Butted'
The New York Giants rookie duo of Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo didn't need to exchange a lot of words to forge a strong bond after being selected by the team in the 2025 NFL draft.
Speaking to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, Dart revealed his first interaction with Skattebo consisted of three words and wrapped up with a head-butt:
"The first [time we met] we said three words to each other and just head-butted each other. That was kind of like the start of our relationship. When we first got here to the [Giants] facility and met each other for the first time. We were able to spend more time on the plane to the [NFLPA] rookie premiere and they put us right next to each. Obviously we're still getting to know each other. I fell asleep on the plane and I wake up to this dude wet-willying me and trying to put food on my face while I'm sleeping. That is kind of an accurate representation. It's 100% [who he is]."

NFL coach calls CFB transfer players 'clowns'
Just five games into his NFL career, Skattebo has earned a reputation as a spark plug. His energy is prevalent at all times, including during head coach Brian Daboll's weekly press conferences.
The relationship between Dart and Skattebo began with an innocuous text during the draft, then quickly blossomed from there. Skattebo told ESPN's Peter Schrager his nights out with Dart are probably best not described because it gets "a little crazy" when they are hanging out.
Arizona State running backs coach Shaun Aguano, who worked with Skattebo for two seasons from 2023 to '24, told Matt Citak of Giants.com that Skattebo is an "intense guy" with a "great personality" that makes him a perfect fit for New York.
The Giants bet on Dart and Skattebo being part of the foundation for the franchise moving forward. They traded up to select Dart in the first round and used a fourth-round pick on Skattebo.
Dart is 1-1 in two starts since replacing Russell Wilson as the No. 1 quarterback. He has thrown for 313 yards, run for 109 yards and accounted for four touchdowns.
Skattebo ranks fifth among all rookies and 28th overall with 383 yards from scrimmage. The 23-year-old has had at least 90 scrimmage yards in each of the past three games.
The Giants will need to rely heavily on their rookie duo heading into Thursday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium. Philadelphia swept the season series between the two teams in 2024.
