Brock Purdy Going on IR Hasn't Been Discussed amid Toe Injury, 49ers' Shanahan Says
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy missed another game on Sunday and hasn't practiced this week, but head coach Kyle Shanahan has no plans to place him on injured reserve.
"It hasn't been a thought on [placing him on] IR," Shanahan said Wednesday, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner. "He's progressing."
Purdy started the season under center but missed Weeks 2 and 3 because of a toe injury. He returned to action in Week 4 and threw for 309 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but aggravated the toe injury and was unable to return to the field on Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Luckily for the 49ers, backup quarterback Mac Jones has performed well in Purdy's absence. In three games, he's thrown for 905 yards, six touchdowns and an interception, leading San Francisco to three wins as the starter.
He had 342 yards and two touchdowns in Thursday's win over the Rams.
But Jones isn't injury-free heading into this week's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's dealing with a left knee injury he suffered on Thursday and also has an oblique injury, Shanahan said, forcing him to be limited in practice on Wednesday.
According to Wagoner, Adrian Martinez, who was brought up from the practice squad last week, will get starter reps in practice this week.
