Trevor Lawrence Says The 'Belief and Confidence Is There' for Jaguars amid 4-1 Start

Paul KasabianOct 7, 2025

The Jacksonville Jaguars only needed five weeks this season to match their entire win total from last year (four) after taking down the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs 31-28 on Monday evening.

Naturally, the 4-1 Jags have great belief and confidence in themselves, with first-year head coach Liam Coen leading the way.

Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence spoke about the team's belief and confidence in itself in an interview with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated that published Tuesday.

"I think it's a belief he has in us and obviously we have in him as well," Lawrence said regarding Coen. "There are a lot of things we can do better offensively, clean some stuff up, and we're gonna have to as the season goes on. But the belief and confidence is there as a team, just finding a way to win. That's hard to do in this league … The way he thinks and attacks every week has spread throughout the team for sure."

It's hard not to believe in the Jags right now. After a 4-13 season in 2024, Jacksonville is tied for first at 4-1 atop the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts. The Coen-led Jaguars have won some big games, including a 26-21 road victory over the San Francisco 49ers, whose only loss has been to Jacksonville.

Then the Jags followed that up with a clutch victory over the Chiefs, with Lawrence rushing for a game-winning one-yard touchdown even after stumbling twice.

That game also featured Devin Lloyd returning a Patrick Mahomes pass for a 99-yard pick-six.

Needless to say, the Jags are firing on all cylinders right now, and they'll look to continue their great start on Sunday when they host the Seattle Seahawks.
